Unlock Your Brain’s full Potential

Neurofeedback is a research-backed method for improving cognitive function, helping with symptom reduction, and so much more.

Sensors on the scalp measure brain waves and send this data to a computer that provides visual and auditory feedback in real time. The brain observes the positive or negative feedback and learns to improve its own self-regulation.

As you begin to self-regulate, you will begin to experience not only symptom reduction, but more clarity, less reactivity, better focus, and more. NFB is a workout for the brain, resulting in increased flexibility, control, resilience, and strength.

Tristam Miles, the lead clinician and founder of Open Mind Neurotherapy has been running Neurotherapy sessions in Boulder for over 5 years. he is excited to help you on your mental health journey through neurofeedback, neuromodulation, and counseling services.

Openmind Neurotherapy is bringing high level mental healthcare to Boulder, Colorado.

Our Process

Step 1: EEG Acquisition

Every client’s journey begins with an EEG recording. An EEG is a recording of a client’s brainwaves via a cap placed on your head containing 19 electrodes. OpenMind follows best practices in the field of neurotherapy for brain recordings; we record your brain for 10 minutes with your eyes opened, and 10 minutes with your eyes closed.

Step 2: Analysis

Unlike some Neurotherapy practices, OpenMind manually analyzes client’s raw EEGs to visually check for unique features. EEGs are also analyzed by using state-of-the-art software packages, such as the industry-leading EEG analysis software WINEEG, and an AI-based quantitative database system, IMediSync. Openmind also consults with leaders in the field to ensure the highest quality of analysis possible for all clients.

Step 3: Training

Each client at OpenMind is given a training protocol personalized specifically for their individual brain. We generally use neurostimulation and neurofeedback in unison to better treat our clients. We have a wide array of modulations at our disposal which can be used for a wide variety of symptoms.

Our Services

  • Brain Mapping

Too often in the field of mental health — a “one size fits all” method is used. At Openmind, a full EEG is taken for all clients before any training can begin. This allows us to choose a treatment plan tailored for your individual brain. We utilize cutting edge EEG processing software packages for analysis.

  • Neurofeedback

This is the main modality used at OpenMind. Clients pick a form of entertainment and hear a series of beeps while their program's brightness is affected. This is Operant Conditioning: Rewarding your brain for advantageous behavior and punishing it for disadvantageous behavior.

  • Neurostimulation

This is a form of neuromodulation in which a low voltage, direct current is applied to the brain. This electrical stimulation modulates neuronal activity through the regulation of pyramidal neuron excitability, glucose consumption, and cerebral blood flow.

  • Biofeedback

Biofeedback is a process where we track your body’s physiological measures (e.g heart rate, skin conductance, blood pressure, etc.) and provide feedback in order to strengthen your brain-body connection. This method can be used independently or in usison with other modalities.
